Frequently Asked Questions

Q: When can I get a tree house?
A: Elevated Living is now taking orders. Contact us for a free consultation.
Q: How much do your tree houses cost?
A: It varies from tree house to tree house. Each one is customizable with access options, materials, and overall layout. Please contact us for more information.
Q: How are your tree houses eco-friendly?A: The design, being 12' square, allows for minimal scrap in the materials I use. Also, the materials consist of engineered glulams manufactured from second growth logs. They are cedar which is naturally rot and insect resistant. This eliminates the need for any chemicals to be applied to the tree house. Other materials, such as FSC certified lumber, are available upon request.
Q: Are there any specific site requirements for these tree houses?A: These tree houses are designed to be installed in a straight-trunked tree such as a Pine, Spruce, or Fir tree. At the attachment point (at the very top of the tree house), the trunk of the tree needs to be 2 feet in diameter. Within the city of Portland, Oregon, no permits are required for structures under 200sq/ft. The Classic comes in at 144sq/ft. Proximity to property lines is a concern. The tree house needs to be 5' from property lines.
Q: How long does it take to install a tree house?
A: The installation of the basic tree house takes 3 days, but may vary based on options.
Q: What are some of the options for your tree houses?
A: That is up to your imagination. The Elevated Living tree house was designed as a simple piece of architecture on which you can build upon. The basic design is a cube with a floor. Walls, railings, ladders, etc. are up to you and your needs and wants. Please contact us for a free consultation to discuss options
Q: I don't live in Portland, will you still build me a treehouse?
A: Elevated Living is able to install treehouses outside of Oregon. The further from Portland, the more expensive the treehouse due to logistics. I would recommend if you are as far as the east coast, please check out www.treetopbuilders.net. They do high quality work and will be able to give better pricing on the east coast.
Q: Are you currently hiring?
