Our Mission

To create lasting, quality treehouses which will enrich the experience of interacting with nature while protecting the tree and the ecosystem for years of enjoyment to come.

Values

We are governed by the following values. They influence every tree house we build:

  • Quality: We carry the highest standard when it comes to materials, craftsmanship, and engineering. Every treehouse we design and build uses the best materials and construction methods and is engineered to last 20+ years.
  • Environment: Each treehouse is built with FSC Certified sustainable materials designed to minimize waste and is engineered and installed to be fully supported by a tree without harming it’s health.
  • Design: The basis of our design is clean, modern lines with little to no hardware visible. This allows the structure to stand on it’s own without obtrusive connections or suspension systems leading the eye away from the structure.

Employees

Schuyler Silva – Owner and Founder

Schuyler is a Portland native. After graduating from Grant High School, he went on to Southern Oregon University and then the University of Illinois to earn a Masters in Fine Arts. His education focused on engineering and development of theater scenery. This experience helped Schuyler hone his skill of technical problem solving while building structures that have never been built before. Inspired by architecture and modern design, through Elevated Living, Schuyler has combined his passion of design and craftsmanship with his love of nature and landscaping. He has over 12 years of building experience working on stage, residential construction, as well as in the promotional industry. In his spare time, Schuyler can be found doing renovations to his house, gardening, and riding his motorcycle.

Devin Zoller – Master Carpenter

Devin has been with Elevated Living since its inception. His first treehouse experience was in North Idaho as a young boy: a bare platform, 45 feet up, with no railings. Surviving that, he went on to create many more treehouses with his older brother on their 40 acre tree farm. Upon receiving a BFA in Stage Management from Southern Oregon University, Devin moved to Portland where he also owns and operates L’Ecu Bicycles and designs/builds furniture. More information on L’Ecu Bicycles can be found at http://www.l-ecu.com/.

Devan Anthony – Tree Technician/Carpenter

Devan is the newest addition to the Elevated Living team.  He brings with him a degree from Carnegie Mellon in Design and Psychology focusing on how people relate to objects. Devan is a construction manager in the residential construction industry and holds a certification as a Sustainable Homes Professional. Devan recalls building many tree houses in the sugar maple trees of Western Massachusetts, framing platforms with site cut saplings nailed directly into their trunks. In winter the nail holes would drip sweet sap, forming frozen maple treats. As an adult, he’s taken tree climbing workshops focusing on climbing safety as well as a treehouse building class with Pete Nelson of the Treehouse Workshop. With these skills, he has built a meditation platform treehouse utilizing a cantilevered design. Additional information on Devan’s work, including his treehouse, can be found at http://www.devananthony.com/.
